Google launches a website for reading Along app to encourage young children to practice reading. The website by google was introduced in public beta and worked in Chrome, Firefox, and Edge browsers on Desktop and Android. Support for iOS and more browsers such as safari is coming soon.
Concept of the website!
This website is useful for many children as they can learn to speak English, Portuguese, Spanish, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Telugu, Gujarati, Tamil, and Urdu by reading stories on Google speech recognition and text-to-speech text.
Diya is a virtual assistant who helps to pronounce children as if they are struggling. Children can also ask for help with Diya if they face any struggles or doubts. The company claimed the app for all the speech recognition processes on the browser. No data is sent to its servers to protect children’s privacy, and the whole experience is ad-free.
Advantage of the app!
The app had the advantage of using offline. This website can help people have low storage on their phones or schools on their desktops. The difference between the website and the app is latter works without any sign-in. For the new website on the same device to progress different children, you want to sign up with a google account.
First launched an app!
In India in 2019, Google first launched the Bolo app that will support learning Hindi and English languages. Latter in 2020, it renamed it Read Along with additional languages that support a wider audience. This application helps more than 30 million kids to read millions of stories.
New platform!
Along with the website launch, google planned to add some brand-new stories. The company is partnering with new content providers to get more interesting stories. Two well-known get partnered with YouTube content creators, ChuChu TV and USP Studios, to get more videos into a storybook format.
Latest on this year!
This year, the company is working on an India-based Kutuki learning app to learn their English and Hindi alphabet books and phonics to kids and as stories in Read Along app.
