We have selected our favorite features of the Lexus RX for the year 2023

The new Lexus RX is finally here, with its redesigned exterior and interior, four new engines, and a host of new features. Since Lexus first set foot on American soil in 1979, it has been one of the nation's top luxury car brands. Lexus stands out for its reliability and creative engineering, making it one of the most stylish luxury car manufacturers.

Lexus recently introduced the fifth generation of the RX with several changes. The Lexus RX has been completely redesigned, and its new exterior looks better than ever. Additionally, the interior has been redesigned with A-grade materials and a contemporary layout. The 2023 RX is built on Toyota's GA-K platform, has four new engines, and replaces the previous 3.5-liter V6.

A few of the new features on the Lexus RX are impressive, giving it a clear advantage in the segment, even with numerous features. With the launch of the fifth generation RX, Lexus has made some significant changes, and one of the most notable is its new set of engines. RX buyers will have a choice of four powertrains in 2023: a turbocharged engine, a regular hybrid engine, a plug-in hybrid engine, and a high-performance hybrid engine.

A new 2.4-liter turbocharged inline-four engine with 275 horsepower and eight-speed automatic transmission will power the RX 350 models. A front-wheel-drive and an all-wheel-drive system are available for the RX 350. It takes around 7.2 seconds to accelerate from 0-60 mph in the RX 350 and offers around 24 MPG in the city.

The more expensive RX 350h runs on a 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain that combines an inline-4 engine with an electric motor at the rear. The RX 350h's hybrid engine is paired with a CVT transmission and delivers 246 horsepower and 233 lb-ft of torque. The car is estimated to achieve 33 MPG and accelerate from 0-60 mph in around 7.5 seconds.

The RX 450h+ is powered by a 2.5-liter engine combined with front and rear motors, as well as an 18.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. We expect this engine to be 320 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, although Lexus has not revealed the exact numbers. To extract more power from the engine, this engine activates both the engine and the battery simultaneously.

With a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine paired with two electric motors, the flagship RX 500h is the most powerful model in the lineup. An eAxle motor provides excellent grip and muscular performance at the rear of the vehicle, while permanent synchronous motor powers the front wheels. A powerful 367 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque are delivered by the RX 500h. In addition to stout power and decent mileage, it can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds.

The new Lexus RX also comes with a new all-wheel-drive system, which Lexus calls Direct4. A Direct4 system uses a combination of sensors and mechanicals to monitor wheel speed, acceleration, steering angle, and power to optimize and properly control the driving force distribution ratio between the front and rear wheels.

It senses the situation, collects data, and adjusts the front and rear drive force distribution between 100:0 and 20:80 to improve start-up acceleration, handling and stability, and fuel economy. A  drive force ratio of 60:40 to 40:60 is pitched between the front and rear wheels when the vehicle is at rest to optimize acceleration.

A 70:30 front-to-rear distribution of drive force is achieved in sharp corners by sensing speed, angle, and power. The new Lexus RX features a luxurious, spacious, and tech-centric cockpit with excellent driver comfort. A human-friendly ambiance and superb comfort are delivered by the new RX's Tazuna cockpit design.

A perforated leather seat covers the five seats in the cabin. Power-adjustable bucket seats provide heated and cooling functions, memory settings, and lumbar support on the front side. A color HUD and a 9.8-inch fully digital instrument cluster are included on the driver's side. The center stack features a large 14-inch touchscreen and a 21-speaker Mark Levinson PurePLay audio system.

Although Lexus hasn't confirmed other features, we expect wireless connectivity, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto as well as voice-activated navigation, and other premium features. Excellent ergonomics and intuitive controls make the controls very easy to use. A luxurious feel and look are achieved by using aluminum or wooden trim and leatherette surfaces.

A standard feature of the Lexus Safety Suite 3.0+ package is pre-collision assistance, lane assistance, intelligent high beams, dynamic radar cruise control, and road sign assistance. Additionally, the RX features a new Proactive Driving Assist package that includes exclusive safety features such as lane departure warnings and pre-collision safety systems.

As part of future OTA updates, Lexus will also add advanced parking, traffic jam assist, and safe exit assist. With the F Sport package, Lexus offers further customization options with the flagship RX 500h. A sportier fascia with a wider and lower stance and an aerodynamically optimized exterior is included in the F Sport package. There are also new 6-piston brake calipers and new 21-inch aluminum wheels included in the package.
