The Intel Macs running Boot Camp just got some Wi-Fi improvements from Apple

The good news is, if you have been experiencing Wi-Fi problems running Windows on your Mac, a new update may help.

It has just been announced that Apple has released Boot Camp 6.1.16 for Intel Macs. This update is said to solve Wi-Fi issues as well as problems that some people had with Bluetooth not working properly, so with the update, Wi-Fi issues should no longer be an issue.

In addition to bringing WiFi WPA3 support, the new update fixes a Bluetooth driver issue as reported by MacRumors.

The problem was particularly nasty because it often occurred when users tried to resume from Sleep or Hibernation, two things that Intel Macs have a tendency to do strangely at the best of times.

It is probably a good idea for Boot Camp users to update their software now, regardless of whether they are having problems.

It is only applicable to Intel Mac owners, due to Boot Camp and Windows not being compatible with Apple silicon Macs. The speed provided by Apple's chips should be used even by Windows, to be sure.

It is a less than ideal situation for people who used Boot Camp for many years to run Apple silicon Macs these days since they must use virtualization software.

In spite of Apple's superior silicon at the core of the Mac, the lack of native Windows support for work and play is still a problem for people who require it - the macOS gaming experience is still unsatisfactory.

As of now, Apple has largely moved away from Intel and towards chips that it designs and has manufacture.

The Mac Pro is the only holdout, but it is also expected to migrate to Apple silicon eventually. It appears that an M2 Extreme chip is in the works, but there is no firm release date yet.
