Additionally, if you intend to transfer the folder over the internet or into another storage device, you'll also want to view the folder sizes to determine if they are taking up too much storage space.  On Windows devices, viewing the folder sizes is very straightforward, as you can choose between graphical and command-line applications.  In Windows, the file explorer can be used to see the folder size. Aside from providing folder information like the date of creation, size, path, and many other things, you can also get folder size details with CLI applications such as PowerShell and CMD. This will be covered in depth. As stated earlier, File Explorer allows you to see file and folder details easily on Windows. It also allows you to view other information about the folder. 

The folder properties feature lets you check a variety of folder information, such as its size, date created, attributes, and much more.  A command line can be used to determine the number of files in a folder. All you need to do is execute the command and it will display the information you need.  You can also check the folder sizes using PowerShell, a powerful CLI tool. However, this article suggests the most useful and efficient command lines that you can use to check the folder sizes.

Alternatively, you can use the following command in PowerShell to view the contents and sizes in the folder. Be sure to change E:/images to the desired folder directory when you paste the command.  In addition to the fact that it’s easy to use, it also doesn’t show the total size of the folder, which makes it a little less useful. If your system has hidden folders, you can find them by going to File Explorer. Then, click the View tab, and check the Show Hidden items option.

This command works on the previous version of Windows as well. Simply change the drive letter to the drive you want to see hidden folders in. In File Explorer, if a path exceeds 260 characters long, the size of the folder cannot be displayed. To solve this problem, reduce the path length or use one of the processes mentioned in this article.
