In honor of National Dog Week, Tinder puts its app to greater use by adding adoptable pets

Tinder is collaborating with Animal Shelters

Tinder revealed that it is coming together with dog rescue shelters all over the country to recognize National Dog Week by enabling users to add a shelter dog to their profile picture. But sadly, this new item is only here for a little while. On September 24, National Dog Weekend, Tinder users can still access the filter through October 20.

Featuring Animal Shelters

Wags & Walks in Los Angeles, 4 Paws Kiddo Rescue (L.A.), Animal Care Centers of NYC, Anti-Cruelty Society in Chicago, and Special Pals in Houston are the five animal shelters Tinder collaborated with on this project.

Using the Tinder app or by going to, you can add the adoptable dog profile card to your profile. Then, post a photo of yourself after selecting a dog from the list. After that, a dog image is added as a filter to your picture. A banner with the dog's name, location, and adoption information will also be present.

"Rescue Dogs" for a reason

Users are encouraged to assist adorable dogs in being adopted by other Tinder users as part of the campaign "Rescue Matches." Users include a shelter dog in their Tinder profile for a selfish reason, that is, to increase the number of matches they receive from other dog lovers. I mean, "Who would be able to resist tapping on these adorable puppies?

"Dog Lover", the top interest selected

According to a survey conducted in 2021 by the dog brand Honest Paws on behalf of Tinder, 60% of respondents are more likely to swipe right on someone whose profile photo has a dog. Additionally, according to Tinder, "Dog Lover" is one of the top 10 "Interests" that users have added to their profiles.

In a statement, Tinder's CMO stated that "During National Dog Week, Tinder is better positioned to assist humans discover love and help dogs in need find new homes –" both looking for their perfect match".

"Being able to express your common interests is so important for sparking new connections, so we wanted to bring our members even more fun ways to find someone new, whether that be a new dog park pal or a step-parent for their furry friend," stated Tinder CM.
