McLaren's new supercar, the Artura GT4, is the race version. McLaren Carbon Lightweight Architecture is also utilized for the first time on the new vehicle.
It features a carbon fibre monocoque, a rigid structure that provides stronger and safer handling.
McLaren Automotive's Director of Motorsport, Ian Morgan, explained: 'The Artura GT4 is McLaren Automotive's second race car built from the ground up.
'Based on the revolutionary new McLaren Artura, it represents a significant step up from the outgoing 570S GT4, which has achieved many races and championship victories with customer racing teams.
'The Artura GT4 will set new standards for its class due to the lighter weight, extremely precise handling characteristics, improved durability
As well as packaging and efficiency advantages and all-round serviceability of the V6 powertrain, as we have already noticed from our extensive testing and development program.”
A compact V6 engine and weight-optimized ancillaries and exhaust system power the new car.
The Artura GT4 weighs more than 100kg (15 stone) than the 570S GT4. McLaren Motorsport Retailers will be able to register interest from customers for the new race car.
Artura GT4 buyers can modify the car by adding a passenger seat and harness as well as changing the size of the seats.
McLaren's new supercar will make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, from June 23 to June 26.
