'Deus Ex' and 'Guardians of the Galaxy' writer to lead Mass Effect's narrative

Those of you who are Garrus fans, rejoice! It is my pleasure to introduce you to Mary DeMarle, the award-winning author of Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

In her role as Senior Narrative Director at BioWare, she will be responsible for writing the storylines for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.

As a new member of the Mass Effect team, DeMarle will lend her considerable skills to the next entry in the franchise, as well as to the upcoming games.

In addition to the fact that this is a project that is in its infancy, and that Commander Shepard might return or not, we know little about it.

It was reported by VGC that DeMarle had been a Narrative Director and lead writer for both Human Revolution and Mankind Divided at Eidos-Montréal for more than 14 years.

In addition to DeMarle's announcement on LinkedIn, the director of the as-yet-untitled Mass Effect sequel, Michael Gamble, confirmed that she would oversee the narrative.

As one of DeMarle's most recent projects, he penned the story for 2021's Guardians of the Galaxy, which subsequently won the Best Narrative award at the Game Awards of that year.

Would you mind telling me about how DeMarle was appointed to the position at BioWare and what you feel about his new role?

Because Mass Effect's narrative will be in capable hands, do you feel more excited about the next installment of the game now that you know it will be handled by capable people?

We would be delighted to hear your story if you are interested in sharing your experience. Please let us know in the comments below.
