As a result of Activision Blizzard's SEC filing covering the three months ending with June 30, its earnings from PC games were £273.4 million, and its earnings from console games were £309.6 million, during this time.
As surprising as it may seem, the company made a staggering amount of revenue from its 'mobile and ancillary' business, which accounted for more than half of its total revenue of £684.3million.
In addition, Activision Blizzard would also be able to include the revenue they generated from their 'Other' category, which includes income from Overwatch and Call of Duty leagues as well as their distribution business.
The company's total revenue is now £86.5 million, which is a huge figure, but it would still only represent less than half of its total revenue.
The revenue growth of consoles and mobile devices was much more competitive at the same point last year. In terms of income, consoles generated approximately 32 percent, while mobile accounted for 35 percent. 27 percent of the sales came from PCs.
As can be seen from this graph, mobile has shown a consistent growth year over year. There was a sharp decline in PCs and consoles, while mobile phones grew by 5 percent.
A majority of Activision Blizzard's revenue comes from King, the mobile game publisher Activision acquired in 2016, that is responsible for more than 82 percent of the company's total mobile revenue, and was responsible for the majority of Activision Blizzard's earnings.
As we all know, King is the company behind Candy Crush, the most successful mobile game in the US for the last five consecutive years.
The mobile game Diablo Immortal also comes from Activision Blizzard, and has been criticized for its monetization, yet has garnered a massive 30 million players just two months after launch. However, it is the company's lowest-rated game.
As for other news, Tactics Ogre: Reborn has finally been revealed after a string of rumours and leaks, and the game has already been subjected to backlash from gamers due to its price and graphics.
