The 2022 MacBook Air was introduced in Apple's keynote address at the WWDC 2022 conference earlier this week. Apple is reportedly working on a 15-inch MacBook Air that it plans on launching next year, according to a new report.
Bloomberg cited anonymous sources familiar with the matter for its report. Bloomberg reports that the 15-inch MacBook Air could launch as early as spring of 2023. Apple has never released a 15-inch MacBook Air model before.
Apple is also reportedly working on a 12-inch laptop in addition to the 15-inch MacBook Air. As that model is in much earlier stages of development, it won't be available until the latter half of 2023 or early 2024.
In 2015, Apple released a 12-inch laptop. Due to the lack of ports, keyboard problems, and unimpressive performance, it was not well received. It will be interesting to see how Apple will address these issues in a new 12-inch model.
According to reports, the 15-inch MacBook Air will follow the 13.6-inch option announced earlier this month at WWDC. It will be thinner than previous models and feature Apple's new M2 chip for improved performance and efficiency.
Bloomberg also noted that new MacBook Pro models are on the way. The 13-inch MacBook Pro will have the same M2 chip as the MacBook Air next month. There will also be a 14-inch and 16-inch model with upgraded M2 chips in late 2022 or early 2023.
It is an exciting time to be a MacBook fan. The M2 chip is yet another step forward for Apple's silicon. If you're trying to decide which MacBook model to buy, good luck
