Gaming laptops from MSI and Razer beat each other by $1,000

MSI has released the first gaming laptop with a 240Hz OLED display, beating Razer to the punch. Razer announced the Razer Blade 15 and its stunning screen first, but MSI is the first to begin selling a 240Hz device.

The MSI Raider GE67 HX laptop isn't just the first on the market - it is also up to $1,000 cheaper than its Razer rival. Let's have a look at some of its specs. We were excited when Razer Blade 15 was announced — after all, it was the first gaming laptop with 240Hz OLED.

An OLED panel known for its high contrast and true-to-life color reproduction was a first in a gaming notebook when it was combined with a truly high refresh rate. The Razer Blade 15 could not only deliver beautiful graphics, but it would also deliver ultra-smooth gameplay.

Because the Razer Blade 14 is still one of the best gaming laptops we have come across, we were excited about the new iteration. However, it appears that MSI may have a leg up on this one - in more ways than one.

MSI Raider GE67 HX is already available and comes with the same 15.6-inch 240Hz OLED display as the original Raider GE67 HX. With the latest Intel processors and Nvidia graphics cards, it comes in several configurations.

With the base configuration, you get a Core i7-12800HX processor paired with a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics card. In addition to 16GB of DDR5-4800 RAM, each laptop comes with a 1TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSD.

The various flavors of the MSI Raider GE67 HX are dubbed 12UGS, 12UH, and 12UHS. The main difference between these laptops is the graphics card and processor used, as well as the price. The laptop can be configured to include an RTX 3080 Ti GPU and a Core i9-12900HX CPU with up to 64 GB of DDR5 RAM.

Besides the aforementioned connectivity options, the notebook also comes with an SD card reader and a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port. It has Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, HDMI 2.1, various USB 3.2 ports, and a Thunderbolt 4 port.

There are several other features of the laptop that gamers might enjoy in addition to its stunning display. It has a mechanical keyboard with fully configurable RGB backlighting and Cherry MX switches. The notebook's battery life hasn't been revealed, but MSI says it comes with a 99.9 watt-hour battery and a 330-watt power supply.

MSI stays on-trend with its design. With a screen surrounded by thin bezels, the laptop itself is fairly lightweight, weighing around 5.2 pounds.BH Photo is the first retailer to sell the new laptop, which is already on pre-order.

There are two versions of the laptop available: the bottom-line model with an RTX 3070 Ti for $2,499 and the top-line model with an RTX 3080 Ti for $3,399.A price of at least $3,500 will be charged for the upcoming Razer Blade, which is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2022.

It is hard to deny that MSI wins when it comes to cost-effectiveness, despite some configurations pushing it up slightly above Razer. BH Photo and MSI haven't announced the exact date of the laptops' release, but pre-orders are already open, so it shouldn't be too far off.
