Here are the best MacBook deals of the moment

A MacBook or Mac Mini equipped with an M1 isn't difficult to find in a range of configurations and models. It's a different story for MacBook Pros with M1 Pro and M1 Max CPUs, but any savings on the latest Pro modeare is sure to be welcome.

We may need to wait a while before we see consistent pricing on the new 13-inch MacBook Pro and MacBook Air with M2 processors. We'll take a look at the discounts that are currently available for the current MacBooks and the Mac Mini. 

The older Intel-based configurations still offer some lingering discounts - which are compatible with macOS Monterey and the upcoming macOS Ventura - but we strongly suggest that you upgrade to a newer model now that Apple has released its M1 and M2 chips for the MacBook Air and Pro. 

Except for Windows Boot Camp holdouts, there is no downside to Apple's silicon. Another option is to purchase refurbished Apple computers. Apple's refurbished store offers one-year warranties and discounts of 15 to 20 percent off the price of a new model. 

The two other retailers that offer refurbished MacBooks are Best Buy and Amazon. However, if you are in the market for a new model, here are the best MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac Mini deals available today. Apple's MacBook Air is its entry-level laptop.

A comfortable keyboard, excellent trackpad, and all-day battery life make this laptop ideal for typical productivity work. Despite the new M2 MacBook Air's release, the 2020 MacBook Air with an M1 processor and fanless design remains the budget option. 

The M1 Air ticks all the right boxes when it comes to performance and price, which is why we recommend it for budget-conscious MacBook buyers in our best laptops to buy guide, even though the M2 now exists.

The MacBook Pro line has been divided into two segments - for now. The M1-powered MacBook Pro of 2020 and its 2022 replacement with the M2 processor remain the only Touch Bar holdouts.

The newer M2 MacBook Pro with its exceptional battery life is preferable to the older M1 MacBook Pro 13-inch. It still has a Touch Bar and its base model is a bit slow, but we're already seeing some good discounts on this laptop. A 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro with 256GB storage costs $1,149 at Amazon and $1,299  at Best Buy.

With the M1 Pro or optional M1 Max CPUs, the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros announced in October are likely to appeal to creative professionals. If 1TB of storage sounds appealing, you can save $300 at Best Buy or Amazon and get that configuration for $2,199.

A 16-inch MacBook Pro with 512GB of storage and the M1 Pro are on sale for $2,199. With the 16-inch model with a 1TB SSD, you can save $300. If you're looking for a workhorse laptop, these discounts are among the steepest you'll find.
