Performance has always been a strong point of Alienware's 17-inch laptops.
Alienware's latest config for the m17 R5 utilizes AMD's Smart Access Memory, SmartShift Max, and FreeSync Premium to maximize performance while keeping Alienware's signature sci-fi aesthetic.
An AMD Ryzen 7 6800H or Ryzen 9 6900HX processor, up to 64GB of DDR5 RAM, 4TB of NVMe storage, and a Radeon RX 6850M XT graphics card with 12GB of dynamic RAM are among the specifications of this system.
The m17 R5, however, can still be configured with an RTX 3080 Ti GPU for those who are not interested in AMD Advantage or do not want to use NVIDIA graphics cards.
A new display option for 2022 will be a blisteringly fast 480Hz panel, which is the highest refresh rate available on a laptop today.
Alienware's UHD display might be a better option if you're not an avid competitive gamer. UHD's gamut is higher and its brightness is higher at 500 nits compared to 300 nits for FHD.
AMD fans can also look forward to a new version of Alienware's Cryo-tech cooling, which includes 3.5x bigger vapor chambers than older models of the m17 R4, as well as a smaller but more efficient CPU fan.
It's also equipped with Alienware's ComfortView Plus blue-light filtering technology, which, along with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos, makes the m17 R5 one of its highest-performing gaming laptops in its M-Series.
However, the new M17 R5 is definitely ain't light because it weighs a maximum of 7.3 pounds. No matter what model you choose, you'll need a sturdy bag to transport it around.
The refreshed m17 R5 is now available for a starting price of $1,600, or approximately $2,800 if it is outfitted with a Ryzen 9 CPU and a Radeon RX 8650 M Xt GPU.
