The WhatsApp beta testers are receiving rich link previews for their text status updates. Using the Google Play Beta Program, the Meta-owned instant messaging app is rolling out an update that brings the app's version to 2.22.17.8, according to WABetaInfo.
The app is redesigning its user interface when sharing a link as a text status update.' The feature was being developed... until today.
The website reports that beta testers can now post rich links to status updates through WhatsApp beta for Android 2.22.17.7.
Besides sharing a screenshot, WABetaInfo also provided a description of the feature. Using your WhatsApp account, send a link to your status update to see if it has been updated.
The rich preview indicates that the update is available to your WhatsApp account and has been reported to the website that tracks WhatsApp updates.
Update 2.22.17.8 for WhatsApp beta is marked as compatible with Android 2.22.17.8.
The instant messaging app has now released the feature to a limited number of beta testers.
Over the next few weeks, the 'Rich link previews for text status updates will be rolled out to more beta testers.
According to reports, WhatsApp is also working on a feature called 'Kept messages.' These messages disappear after a set period of time but are temporarily converted into standard WhatsApp messages.
There is a new section within chat info that shows the update. Conversation participants can open these messages at any time.
