Foldable smartphones are here, according to Samsung

In an interview with CNET, Samsung's mobile president, TM Roh, claimed that the company is starting to see foldable devices become more popular.

There are more foldable gadgets being used than ever before, which indicates that more users are converting to these devices.

Samsung is far ahead of its competitors when it comes to foldable technology.

A recent blog post by Roh claimed that over ten million foldable cellphones would be shipped in 2021.

In Roh's eyes, foldable handsets are poised to take a large share of the smartphone market in the near future; the rate of growth this year has been much higher than the previous year.

In the foldable cellphone market, Samsung controls 87.8% of the market, making it one of the major competitors. According to IDC, the number of foldable cellphones will rise to 27,6 million by 2025.

Apple may intervene at some point, but how and when remains to be seen. When Apple decides to offer a foldable iPhone, we can confidently assume its acceptance rate will skyrocket.

The analyst Mong-Chi Kuo previously speculated that Apple is considering a foldable iPhone model. It is also speculated that the first foldable Apple device will be a combination of the iPhone and iPad.

Due to the growing trend of foldable phones, manufacturers are undoubtedly encouraged to include them in their flagship lineups. How this trend evolves and impacts consumer markets will only be determined by time.
