As part of its Unpacked 2022 series, Samsung will hold a second event on August 10. In addition to the fourth generation of foldable, we can look forward to hearing about a wide range of other exciting new hardware.
There will be a lot of information revealed about the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 at the August 10 event. Samsung's potential plans and specs for both phones have been the subject of rumors for a while now.
It's pricing that I want to discuss - specifically regarding the Galaxy Z Fold 4. In 2017, Samsung released the Galaxy Z Fold 3 for a staggering $1,799 starting price.
Even though Galaxy Z Fold 2 was $200 cheaper, that mammoth price raised many eyebrows. Hardware and R&D costs for new technology are high, but $1,799 for a phone seems high. $1,000 is a lot to ask for.
There was a recent leak that suggested the Galaxy Z Fold 4 could have a 128GB storage option. In our opinion, many, including ourselves, believe this generation will see a price drop.
while the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is $200 less than the Galaxy Z Fold 2. A lower base storage amount could also result in another $200 drop for the Galaxy Z Fold 4? It would be great if there was a version of the Fold with 128GB instead of 256GB.
If that were the case, $1,599 would be a hefty sum for a phone, but it would certainly be a step in the right direction for the Fold's price.
Nevertheless, I'm curious whether Samsung will cut $200 from the price of the phone by halving its base storage or if this rumored 128GB option will cut even more.
This wild speculation of mine won't pay off until August 10, so we'll see.
