In iOS 16 beta 5, Apple has updated the battery icon on iPhones with Face ID so that it now shows the percentage of the battery rather than simply the level.

There is no battery indicator on the 5.4-inch iPhone 12/13 mini, but it is available on iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models. In addition to the iPhone X, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max, it is also available on iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max.

Due to the lack of space on either side of the notch that houses the TrueDepth camera hardware, the battery percent has not been included on iPhones with Face ID.

It also provides a better idea of battery status at a glance, adding the specific battery level to the battery icon.

It is not possible to see a specific percentage of the battery level when using iOS 15 or earlier versions of iOS. Users can access the battery widget by swiping down into Control Center or going to the Today center view.

In addition to changing colors, the iPhone's battery icon also changes colors based on the state of the battery. For example, when charging, the battery icon is green and shows an indicator that the device is charging.

The Battery section of the Settings app allows you to toggle the battery percentage on and off. On most iPhones with a notch, the battery percentage feature is available, but it is not available on the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 11, or iPhone XR, perhaps because of space constraints.

Shortly, Apple will release a public beta of iOS 16 beta 5, which is currently available to developers.
