The focus of Apple's iPhones appears to be shifting to the 'Pro' models in 2022. According to a new report from Ming-Chi Kuo, the latest A16 Bionic chipset will be available only for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
Taking that a step further, the vanilla iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max could include the A15 Bionic chipset of last year, providing similar performance as the iPhone 13 series.
The latest chipset was shipped with both the regular and Pro versions of the iPhone up until now. Apple anticipates a spike in sales of the iPhone 14 Series premium models with this move.
With the Pro models getting an improved camera system this year, an increase in their sales will also benefit the component suppliers of the rear camera, including Sny, Largan, Alps, and LG Innotek.
There is no doubt that the Pro series will be even more expensive than last year. Some users were disappointed by the strategic move because they were waiting for the regular iPhone 14 after all the price drops on the iPhone 13.
Another area of concern arises from this. Each year, the improvement in performance is what keeps people buying new iPhones.
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max will have similar performance to the iPhone 13 series, so Apple will have to differentiate between the two devices.
Since Apple keeps the regular models longer than it sells the Pro models, discontinuing the iPhone 13 might be aggressive.
According to ShrimpApplePro, Apple's iPhone 14 series will have a larger battery than the iPhone 13. As per the tipster, the vanilla iPhone 14 will have a battery capacity of 3,279 mAh, which is almost as large as the battery capacity of the iPhone 13.
There is no need to mention here that the iPhone 13 can play videos for up to 18 hours. Also, the iPhone 14 Max is said to have a 4,325 mAh battery, which could debut with the iPhone 14 lineup.
Furthermore, the leakster mentions the battery capacity of the Pro models in the iPhone 14 lineup. The iPhone 14 Pro could have a 3,200 mAh battery, which is a slight increase over the iPhone 13 Pro's 3.095 mAh battery.
It is important to note that the iPhone 13 Pro has a 28-hour video playback time. As a result of the iPhone 14 Pro's increased battery capacity and better power management, Apple might be able to provide up to 30 hours of video playback.
