New low-cost 5G smartphones from Samsung are being developed. The Galaxy A23 5G has been a subject of much speculation for several months now. It may finally be nearing its market release and is apparently heading to the United States.
The Galaxy A23 5G was first announced in January of this year. Early reports have stated that Samsung plans to launch the phone 'in the coming months' along with a non-5G variant.
The company announced the Galaxy A23 4G phone in early March, giving credence to those reports. However, no official announcement has been made regarding the 5G version of the phone. However, this may not last much longer.
Samsung's Galaxy A23 5G appeared on benchmarking platform Geekbench earlier today with the model number SM-A236U. This should be the US version of the phone, confirming its availability in the US. Additionally, the device will be available across other regions, including Europe.
The Geekbench listing also discloses details about the phone's processor and memory. Though it doesn't explicitly state what chipset is in use, the codenames and specifications
which include two cores at 2.21GHz and six at 1.80GHz, along with the Adreno 619 GPU - suggest it is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC, which does feature an embedded 5G modem.
The Galaxy A23 5G will run Android 12 out of the box, likely with Samsung's One UI 4.1 layered on top. It is another noteworthy takeaway from this sighting. The phone will include 4GB of RAM. However, Samsung could still choose to offer the phone with other memory configurations.
There has been speculation that the Galaxy A23 5G will feature a 50-megapixel primary camera at the back. The 4G-only counterpart of this smartphone also features a 50-megapixel camera.
The fact that both models have four cameras on their backs in nearly the same manner suggests that the upcoming phone will feature additional sensors as well.
Specifically, we recommend a 5-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. There is also the option of an 8-megapixel front camera. Moreover, the Galaxy A23 5G may also feature a large 5,000mAh battery with fast charging capability of 25 Watts.
Unfortunately, the rest of the specifications, as well as pricing and availability information, are unknown. It is likely that Samsung will market this phone as a low-cost 5G device. It is expected to be unveiled soon, so we will hear more about it as the company prepares.
