In 2022, CNET's experts think the following handsets are the most capable 5G-enabled handsets you'll be able to buy.

The fact that top-end phones such as Apple's iPhone 13 series, Samsung's Galaxy S22 line of smartphones, and the Google Pixel 6 come with superfast 5G data speeds is no surprise. After all, that's why you're paying so much for them.

The good news is that it is not only premium phones that are able to offer you these lightning-fast network speeds. Many budget-friendly smartphones are now offering 5G connectivity, which includes Samsung, OnePlus, and Motorola, in addition to Apple's most affordable iPhone SE, which has 5G connectivity as well. 

It is true that 5G will not be able to replace 4G in its entirety, but it is the next generation of mobile connectivity. 5G works well, and there are many industries that can benefit from the upgraded network, including drones, self-driving cars, and the internet of things, among others.

Although 5G has been growing rapidly across the US, the UK, and the wider world, it is still not available everywhere quite yet, so you will have to make sure that 5G coverage is available in your area before spending a lot of cash on a 5G-enabled handset. 

It is important to remember that a 5G phone will also work on a 4G network (albeit at slower speeds) so you don't have to worry about buying a 5G phone if you do not live anywhere that has 5G coverage.
