In recent rumors, Xiaomi has also started working on a new smartphone with an insanely high resolution. In the near future, all smartphone makers will be putting 200MP cameras on their phones.
The recent collaboration with Leica suggests Xiaomi will disrupt the smartphone photography and filmmaking segments.
In February, reports claimed Motorola is working on a smartphone with a 200MP camera. Using Samsung’s ISOCELL HP1 sensor, it could be the world’s first 200MP smartphone.
Despite a race between Samsung and Motorola to launch the first smartphone with a 200MP camera, Samsung decided not to use the HP1 sensor in their upcoming flagship. They will, therefore, launch their 200MP camera-equipped smartphone after Motorola.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and Galaxy Flip 4 and Galaxy Fold 4 might be among the next generation foldable to come with ISOCELL HP3, which was recently unveiled.
By the end of this year, Samsung plans to begin mass production and shipping ISOCELL HP3 sensors to vendors and other smartphone manufacturers.
Samsung, as well as Apple, have been using Sony sensors for their smartphones, and they are looking to disrupt Sony's stronghold in the smartphone camera market. Sony currently dominates this market.
There are also rumors that the device will have a 120Hz display and a 5,000mAh battery, so Xiaomi is likely to follow Motorola's lead and use the ISOCELL HP1 sensor.
In terms of Xiaomi's latest camera development, there are still a few things that are unclear. We don't know if Leica will work on the sensor. We also don't know what exactly it will be called.
According to some Chinese tech journalists, it may come out as the Xiaomi 12T Pro, while others believe it could come out as the Redmi K50S Pro.
