With Instagram, reels can now be up to 90 seconds long

Earlier this week, Instagram, owned by Meta, announced that it had extended the time limit for Instagram Reels to up to 90 seconds in order to engage creators more with their audiences. Previously, creators could only create videos of 60 seconds.

'We've extended the length of Reels to 90 seconds, so you have more time to play. In an official blog post published on Thursday, Instagram wrote, 'You'll have more time to share more about yourself, film extra behind-the-scenes clips, dig deeper into the details of your content, or whatever else you want to do with the extra time.'

Furthermore, the social networking platform has introduced new features such as audio import, interactive stickers, and fresh sound effects. Let's take a closer look at them one by one.

Using Reels' new sound effects, creators can add humor or emotions to their reels with air horns, crickets, drums, and more.

Instagram Reels also allows creators to import their own audio. The sound can be imported from any video that has at least five seconds of commentary on the creator's camera roll, and the sound can be added to Reels.

Instagram has also added interactive stickers from Stories to Reels. With the interactive stickers, creators will be able to engage with their community as well as attract new viewers and become part of their story.

In two-part reels, creators can now create Poll Stickers to ask their audience what they think should happen in the next video, Quiz Stickers to test their audience's skills (or teach them something new), and Emoji Sliders to let their audience share their feelings with the Reels using emojis.

Earlier this year, the photo-sharing platform introduced Templates, which allow users to easily create reels by using another image as a template. Pre-loading of audio and clip placeholders allows users to add and trim their own clips.

On Reels, we will continue to build new ways for you to connect with your audience and entertain them. We are so excited to see what you create with these new tools!” said Instagram.
