Facebook has solved a flaw that flooded news feeds with celebrity spam.
DownDetector has been flagging this peculiar problem since 1.30 a.m. ET / 6.30 a.m. BST. Multiple users claimed that their main News Feed was flooded with postings from Eminem, Lady Gaga, Gorillaz, Nirvana, and The Beatles.
Twitter trended #facebookhacked and #facebookdown in numerous countries today.
Meta, Facebook's parent corporation, blamed a 'configuration update' 'We addressed the issue as swiftly as possible and apologies for any inconvenience,' the representative said.
While this glitch was short-lived and none of Tom's Guide's staff experienced it, it's humiliating for Facebook.
This silly flaw isn't Facebook's greatest problem in recent years, with the Cambridge Analytica scandal still looming.
