With more than 25 Ikea locations in the US, Electrify America is bringing its fast-charging EV network. Ikea stores in 18 different states will be equipped with more than 220 fast chargers capable of charging up to 350kW.

A public charger will be available by the end of this year, and the rest will be available by 2023.

In addition to bringing ultra-fast public chargers to our stores for the first time, we will also advance our goal of becoming circular and climate positive through this collaboration with Electrify America,' said Ikea US CEO Javier Quinones.

This climate goal was set by Ikea for 2030, but the company is more ambitious, aiming to fully electrify all deliveries by 2025. Ikea is also installing 225 individual chargers at relevant business sites with Electrify America's commercial division as part of its electric delivery plans.

With the public stations, Ikea wants to provide more incentives to its customers and employees to drive electric vehicles. Several Ikea locations were already equipped with Blink Level 2 charging stations as early as 2011.

An increasing number of brick-and-mortar businesses are partnering with charging station providers. Last month, GM announced a coast-to-coast charging network at Pilot and Flying J truck stops following Volvo and ChargePoint's announcement earlier this year.

Earlier this year, the Biden administration published guidelines for awarding EV infrastructure contracts to businesses that provide convenient, affordable, and accessible charging facilities.

North America is home to more than 800 stations with over 3,500 fast charging ports operated by Electrify America, the charging subsidiary of VW automotive group. By 2026, Ikea plans to add 1,000 more stations. The additional 25 stations are just a drop in the bucket.

Aside from Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington state, Ikea Electrify America stations will soon be available in the following states.
