13.2 billion light years from Earth, the Hubble telescope sees the farthest galaxy

If you believe that the events of Star Wars took place in a galaxy that is 'far, far away,' you should probably get ready to have your ideas about the magnitude of distance challenged.

Astronomers from NASA believe that they have observed what looks to be the farthest distant object ever seen by humans...

In the history of mankind, no less. They made this discovery using the Spitzer Space Telescope.

The galaxy was initially glimpsed in 2009, but NASA has just confirmed (using that reliable Hubble apparatus) that what is observed is the oldest known galaxy in existence.

The galaxy was first seen in 2009. This galaxy is a startling 150 million years older than the group of stars that previously held the record.

The most distant, as it is located at a distance of 13.2 billion light-years away. Although it may look like a galaxy, the cluster of blue stars is quite small.

According to NASA, it would take hundreds of these smaller groups to create our Milky Way.

Follow the path beyond the break to get a better look at the constellation, which is also referred to as a red pixel that doesn't mean anything.
