According to MIT scientists, they have found a solution to climate change that will fully reverse it

Climate scientists at MIT believe that they have finally discovered how to reverse the effects of climate change. Hopefully, it will ease some of the pain. There is a strong focus on creating and deploying multiple thin film-like silicon bubbles.

Like a raft, these 'space bubbles' would be attached. Its size would be similar to Brazil once expanded in space. By protecting against the harmful effects of solar radiation, the bubbles would provide an additional shield.

Could space bubbles reverse climate change?

By implementing these 'space bubbles,' climate change can be eased or even reversed. Over the past several centuries, the Earth's temperature has increased. A NASA gif recently showed how global temperatures have changed over time. A massive thaw in the permafrost is now underway.

The Earth's ozone layer has also recently been discovered to have yet another hole. Consequently, many people continue to place a high priority on easing or reversing climate change.

A concept first proposed by Roger Angel is the basis for this new plan. An original suggestion by Angel was to shield the Earth from the radiation of the Sun by using a “cloud” of small spacecraft.

By replacing Angel's inflatable bubbles with silicon bubbles, MIT researchers have improved that same basic concept. It would be a huge achievement to be able to reverse climate change. In reality, shielding the Earth from radiation from the Sun is only one part of the solution. Other things would have to be reduced as well.

How will bubbles shield the Earth?

Is a 'raft' of space bubbles able to defend Earth from the radiation from the Sun? The bubbles need to be sent to the L1 Lagrangian Point.

During this period, both our star and our planet cancel out their gravitational pull on the Earth. Hence, the space bubbles can float freely without being affixed to either body.

To keep things on track, researchers say some form of spacecraft is likely to be needed. It could, however, be a good solution for slowing down climate change or even reversing it.

Our current adapt and mitigate efforts are not viewed by MIT as an alternative solution. However, it shouldn't be viewed as a solution if things go awry.
