(WTAJ) - NASA says an asteroid the size of a skyscraper will pass Earth on Sunday, making its closest approach in almost 100 years.
There is a difference in diameter between 2022 KY4 and 2021 KY4 and it travels at an estimated speed of 16,900 mph.
The asteroid KY4 belongs to the Amor class, meaning that it orbits between Earth and Mars.
Our planet will be missed by about 3.8 million miles by the giant rock, according to NASA.
The rock has previously made close encounters with earth, most recently in 1959. Our next chance to see it this close will be in May 2048.
Although it orbits within 4.7 million miles of Earth and measures more than 140 meters in diameter, NASA still classified it as 'potentially hazardous'.
NASA's Planetary Defense Coordination Office says no asteroids pose a significant risk of impacting Earth within the next 100 years.
In the meantime, the Perseid Meteor Shower, one of the most popular meteor showers, is underway.
Although the meteor shower won't peak until August, you will still be able to see dozens of meteors streak across the sky when the moon isn't too bright.
