The first manned mission to the moon since the Apollo program ended in the 1970s will be documented by a Montreal company.
Artemis I will be launched by Felix & Paul Studios, which produced Space Explorers.
The launch date has not been confirmed, but it is expected to take place at the end of August.
This production will be recorded in 8K and 360-degree virtual reality. Space Explorers will broadcast the event live in a hundred domes and planetariums around the world.
NASA's Artemis program aims to send humans to the moon by 2025, more than half a century after Apollo 17 left the moon. The Artemis I mission will be an unmanned test mission.
Lajeunesse, the creative director of Montreal Studios, said it was a historic moment in space exploration.
Felix & Paul Studios will be able to document these missions with much more advanced technology than Neil Armstrong did in 1969.
Virtual reality productions will be 'completely immersive, transcending the screen and allowing spectators to live the experience as if they were there.'
The studio is also working on other projects related to Artemis, including documenting astronauts' preparations.
Space Explorers will broadcast the production as episodes over the next two years.
