Do you own a Husqvarna lawn mower? You can make it sing 'Happy Birthday' to Mars Curiosity Rover

Those of you who own Husqvarna lawn mowers need to pay attention. Next month, you can download a firmware update that lets your robot grass cutter with a rover on Mars Happy Birthday.

A decade of birthday silence for NASA's Curiosity Rover, which Swedish lawn mower brand Husqvarna describes as the 'loneliest robot in the universe,' ends on August 5 when the rover turns 10.

Curiosity will explore Gale Crater on Mars while more than 100,000 Husqvarna brand Automower robotic lawn mowers on Earth will play Happy Birthday to it.

On Aug. 5, 2012, the Mars rover landed on the planet and, one year later, hummed out a lonely rendition of Happy Birthday powered by its own vibrations.

As engineers say its repetition every year has no scientific value for Curiosity's mission, that was the only Happy Birthday song the rover played.

Thanks to Husqvarna, the Rover will be joined by other robots on its birthday. Engineering teams turned their lawn mowers' small buzzers into a series of sine waves that use musical tones to belt out the melodies.

Owners of Automower's 405X, 415X, and 435X AWD robotic lawn mowers can update their firmware using the Automower Connect app.

Users will hear the tune at noon, 3 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. on August 5. In early September, the update will become permanent, so users can play the song whenever they like.

Curiosity Rover would certainly appreciate the gesture from robotic lawn mowers all over the world if robots had feelings.

Currently, the robot on Mars is too busy collecting scientific data about the red planet and outliving its expected lifespan to answer the question: Was this freezing, dry, airless planet ever home to live?
