Nasa says it's 'going full force' to explain strange lights in the sky as it steps up its UFO investigation

NASA announced in June that it would conduct a study on UFOs - called UAP for UFO Abduction Program.In its definition of UAPs, NASA describes them as 'observations that cannot be identified as aircraft or natural phenomena - from a scientific perspective.'

As a result, the federal agency is reassuring Americans that the investigation into the phenomenon has not slowed down.'NASA's Science Mission Directorate is going full force,' said Daniel Evans, assistant deputy associate administrator for research.

As part of NASA's study, they will identify available data, determine how to collect future data, and determine how best to use it to advance our understanding of UAPs.

In addition, NASA is studying the possibility of using satellites as alien seekers to probe unexplained sightings without the need to launch new technology.

In this team, we will look at questions like: ‘do we have sensors that can see things, or should we take another look at the evidence?’ The Telegraph reported that the agency's deputy administrator spoke at a press conference in London.

The question is: ‘Are any of the satellites that look down at the Earth useful? Melroy said.“Before building a rover for Mars, you ask yourself, ‘What’s the sense I need to build to pick up the most interesting stuff?’ So they’re going to concentrate there,” Melroy added.

Nasa's study will be led by astronomer David Spergel, president of the Simons Foundation in New York City.It is expected that the investigation will begin promptly this fall and last for approximately nine months.

The project will cost Nasa no more than $100,000, the agency said.“NASA believes scientific discovery tools are powerful, and they apply here as well,” said Thomas Zurbuchen, NASA's assistant administrator for science.

The ability to observe Earth from space gives scientists access to a wealth of information - and that's vital to scientific inquiry.'In addition to NASA, other government agencies are investigating UAPs.

An announcement earlier last month revealed that the Department of Defense was establishing an All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office.It will serve as a central point for collating and managing UFO sighting reports across the department.

As more specifically stated, the AARO will coordinate efforts across US federal agencies to 'detect, identify, and attribute objects of interest which may pose a threat to the safety of operations or national security.'

The DoD said this includes anomalous, unidentified space, airborne, submerged, and transmedium objects.'Tranmedium' refers to objects that can fly across multiple environments, including space and underwater.
