On the International Space Station, an Italian astronaut cosplays Sandra Bullock in a t-shirt and shorts

During the scene, the astronaut reenacts an iconic scene from the movie Gravity (2013), a science fiction thriller directed by Alfonso CuarĂ³n. The Mexican, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, was a box office success and won seven Academy Awards, as well as other accolades.

It wasn't long before Cristoforetti, the Italian astronaut, posed with the same unusual outfit that Bullock did: a T-shirt, shorts, and barefoot, without the cumbersome astronaut suits or typical astronaut uniforms.

Christopherotti imitated Sandra Bullock's character, astronaut Ryan Stone, in a scene in which the actress is aboard the International Space Station (ISS) and is haunted by a cloud of debris that struck the shuttle.

'Hey Dr. Stone, a quick question: how did you keep your hair so tidy? On Twitter, the scientist joked '#AskingForAFriend'.

In fact, Cristoforetti's hair floating freely reminds us that this is what microgravity is like, no matter what Hollywood magic can conjure in the studio. The photo, however, took a lot of work. It took seven years to complete.

Scott Kelly, his partner during the mission they did to the station between 2014 and 2015, said, 'Here's the original photo.'. This photo is of the same scene but without Cristoforetti. They didn't get the timing right for taking the photo, and the scientist passed by.

Space.com explains this by saying that times in space are very structured. While astronauts have time off for mental reasons, they must adhere to a strict schedule.

Then I was very disappointed, but now it's all good. I am grateful for Samantha.' Kelly tweeted, jokingly calling the episode 'one of my biggest regrets.'

The space cosplay is not the first time Cristoforetti has done so. During his previous stay, in 2015, he was already disguised as the captain of Star Trek: Voyager, Katherine Janeway. Christofetti impersonates the Star Trek saga in 2015 aboard the International Space Station. Photo by NASA.

Cristoforetti was somewhat critical of Gravity in spite of her Gravity cosplay. After the film premiered in 2013, the astronaut published an article in astronaut news pointing out all the inconsistencies in the movie. The astronaut liked the film's aesthetics, special effects, and music, but he did not like its plot.

It was launched with the SpaceX Crew-4 mission at the end of April and could remain in orbit for up to six months. Christina Koch now holds the title of 'the woman who spent the most time in space' (328 days) after the six months Christina Costaforetti spent on her first visit to the Special Station.

In his 180 days on the ISS, the Italian could surprise again with another space cosplay, even if he does not break the record.
