Spaceviewing will be changed by NASA and the Webb Telescope

NASA announced Friday what you'll see when the first set of images from the James Webb Space Telescope is released next week. Find an image of a planet that is not in our solar system.

It will be a big, gas-filled planet that doesn't move around our sun. Additionally, you'll see pictures of star-forming areas. A nebula is a cluster of gas, dust, and light. The team will also release images of galaxies, which are massive clusters of stars.

We are part of the Milky Way galaxy, and you can see why it is named that way when you are in a dark place. There are parts of the Poconos that are dark enough to see this milky, fuzzy formation at night. The photo was taken in central Pennsylvania. This milkiness is caused by a dense cluster of stars far, far away.

Since it's so far away, it's all essentially one bright area to our eyes. Taking a look at this shot in Yellowstone National Park, you can see more clearly the Milky Way.

Scientists will be able to see the farthest galaxies yet thanks to the James Webb Space Telescope, which is allowing them to look deeper into space than ever before.

It helps us understand what's really out in outer space by being up in space. As an example, the telescope will study how stars are formed so we can gain a deeper understanding of the process. In addition, it analyzes the light traveling through the air of exoplanets.

A planet that is outside the solar system is known as an exoplanet. Our solar system revolves around our sun, but exoplanets spin around their own suns. All of these exoplanets are relatively new discoveries.

We were aware of the planets in our part of space until the 1990s, but since then, over 4,000 planets have been discovered across space, and the Webb Telescope will enable us to discover many more

In addition, it will tell us how much air those planets have. If a planet has air, the light from its sun or star will travel through its air when it passes in front of it.

As a result of the air on those planets, the Webb Telescope acts like a prism. From your grade school days, remember how prisms worked: light enters on one side, gets bent, and you see a rainbow of colors on the other side.

The type of air changes the appearance of that rainbow, which Webb analyzes. Using that information, scientists can figure out all the gases in the atmosphere of that planet. We expect to find an exoplanet with air similar to ours--a planet where we could breathe. In the coming years, you'll hear a lot more about the Webb Telescope.

Next week, there are free events across New Jersey and Pennsylvania to celebrate the release of the pictures on Tuesday, July 12. The FOX 29 meteorologist Drew Anderson plans to attend one of these events in the Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.
