Social media has gone crazy with the picture of an 'alien doorway' on Mars. During the rover's trip through Mount Sharp in 2022, NASA's Curiosity rover sent it back.
Although it did not look like that at all-merely an erosion crevice on the surface-both NASA's rovers, Curiosity and Perseverance, have sent back some fascinating and unexpected pictures since that image.

NASA engineers named the area 'Hogwallow Flats' after a snake head. Weathering and wind erosion are likely to have caused the formation.
According to NASA, Perseverance, the first spacecraft to land on Mars, was equipped with a heat shield and a rocket-powered jetpack that helped it land.
The Mars Rover has found a few bits of space litter while crossing Jezero Crater, including a thermal blanket from the landing stage on June 13, 2022. Considering that it's about 2 kilometers from the landing zone, NASA believes that it is likely that it was blown there by the wind.
This finger-like rock was discovered by Curiosity with its MastCam on Mount Sharp. The Curiosity rover has been on Mars since 2012.
Minerals were likely deposited by groundwater trickling through rock in the distant past. Afterward, the softer material around the minerals was eroded by the wind.
The Perseverance rover drove over this rock on Mars and created 'accidental zen art,' NASA reports. Approximately 100 meters per day travel the rover.
