The Artemis I rocket is ready for a tanking test on the launch pad

NASA's Kennedy Space Center is preparing for next week's launch of the Space Launch System (SLS) Moon rocket and Orion spacecraft. Artemis I's wet dress rehearsal will take place on Launch Pad 39B on Monday, June 6.

All major objectives identified during the previous wet dress rehearsal attempts were completed, as well as some forward work previously planned after the tanking test.

The final set of platforms has been removed and the crawler-transporter now sits underneath the massive rocket, spacecraft, and mobile launcher.

The first motion is scheduled at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time on June 6, and the launch team will closely monitor weather conditions and use the best window possible.

A four-mile journey will take approximately 8-12 hours to reach the launch pad, after which the crawler-transporter will descend the pad surface and rest outside the pad gate.

Following the rocket's return to the pad, engineers will connect the rocket and spacecraft to the ground systems and conduct check-outs in preparation for the tanking test.
