The biggest astronomical event in thirty years is held by the Cyprus space agency

A live broadcast from NASA's James Webb Space Telescope, the latest state-of-the-art space telescope, will be broadcast simultaneously around the world today in collaboration with several organizations, including the Cyprus Space Exploration Organization.

This discovery was dubbed 'the biggest astronomical event in the past 30 years'. Scientists who first processed them were very excited since they showed the first 'moments' of the creation of our universe.

Giorgos Danos of CSEO told the Cyprus News Agency that these first images are expected to provide answers to major existential questions, as well as significantly expand the horizons of research and discovery.

“We see this as a great honor for Cyprus that NASA has chosen the Cyprus Space Agency to co-simulate the long-awaited JWST first pictures along with other organizations worldwide,” he added.

The trust of these major organizations also shows that CSEO's activities are recognized and respected across the globe, according to Marcello Corandini, Chairman of the CSEO Board. He said that Cyprus' potential for space exploration may be modest, but it is immense in terms of its size.

NASA in collaboration with European Space Agency (ESA) and the Canadian Space Agency launched JWST last December and it was the most powerful space telescope.

Eventually, the astronomers expect that its images will reveal the first stars to form 'just after'  the Big Bang that created our Universe 13.8 billion years ago.

The JWST is named in honor of James E. Webb, NASA's second administrator (1961-68), who oversaw Mercury, Gemini, as well as Apollo mission's first manned missions.

Today, NASA will present the results in Cyprus at 5:15 pm at CSEO Discovery Alpha in Nicosia, with the support of ESA, NASA, and the Municipality of Nicosia. The event is free and open to the public, but please arrive early to catch the live broadcast.

Those who want to see the impressive images on larger screens will also be able to do so in K-Cineplex theatres throughout the world, before selected films. CSEO and K-Cineplex will announce movie dates and titles on their social media.
