The Inventor Shows Off His Flying Motorcycle Eight jet engines power the ship

JetPack Aviation has unveiled a prototype of its future P2 Speeder flying motorcycle, which promises to be an adrenaline rush.

The vehicle, dubbed an Air Utility Vehicle (AUV), has eight jet engines and is the third full-scale prototype created by Mayman Aerospace, a JetPack Aviation subsidiary brand.

It's a welcome change of pace - and an indication of tangible development. We've been fawning over mockups of the machine for years, but it's only now that we're seeing something tangible develop from the concept.

The final version, according to the business, will be able to lift 1,000 pounds, travel 400 miles, and reach speeds of over 500 mph – assuming it ever receives FAA flight certification. According to the corporation, it is working with the agency to achieve this goal.

In a statement, principal investor Tim Draper, who has previously invested in SpaceX and Tesla, said, 'The Speeder AUV is a total game-changer.'

'We were happy to give this platform for its first public reveal because it is one of the most interesting, industry-changing technologies we've seen.'

The Speeder might also be used to assist autonomously during firefighting or medical evacuations, according to the business.

JetPack Aviation hopes to start remote-controlled test flights later this year, with pilots taking control near the end.

According to a press release, the P2 Speeder is designed for 'highest flight efficiency and ultra-safe system redundancy.'

That means that if one of the eight jet engines fails, the other engines may alter their thrust to keep the pilot from spinning out of control.

While it's thrilling to see such a crazy idea come to life in the form of a working prototype, bringing this vehicle to market will almost certainly be a challenge, considering the obvious safety risks.
