The NASA Photographers of the Year for 2022 has been announced

A NASA photographer for the fourth consecutive year has been honored with a prize, showcasing intriguing behind-the-scenes photos.

Photographs were taken by NASA's photographers, and the agency compiled 12 winning images, including selfies taken inside an F-15 and scientists inspecting NASA's 'Rock Yard' in space suits.

There's a great selfie taken by Jim Ross taken inside the F-15 Eagle N897NA fighter aircraft with an iPhone 11 Pro, whereas the 'Rock Yard' picture was taken by Norah Moran at Johnson Space Center using a Nikon D5 with a 24-120mm f/4 lens that she used on a Nikon D5.

There was one photo from Rock Yard that was placed first. This particular test area is known as the Planetary Analog Test Area and it is a large multi-acre site set up to simulate the general features of the lunar surface terrain as well as the terrain on Mars and the moon.

The picture shows scientists Kelsey Young and Tess Caswell examining various slopes, grades, simulated craters, and strewn rock field conditions to recreate dusty conditions on the Moon and Mars.

As illustrated in the following epic photograph, the Blue Angel crew are dwarfed as they tour the 85*120 foot wind tunnel in building N221 of the NFAC, where they are surrounded by an inlet of 80*120 foot tunnel.

At the NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Federal Airfield, California, NASA photographer Dominic Hart took this picture with a Nikon D4 on a Nikon camera, which was captured by the NASA photographer.

NFAC's wind tunnels are primarily used to test rotorcraft and vertical takeoff and landing aircraft for aerodynamic and acoustic performance. Additionally, advanced technologies are developed for such vehicles.

NASA astronaut Jonny Kim poses in an incredible portrait wearing a high-altitude pressure suit while flying in the WB-57 aircraft, which can reach altitudes of 60,000 feet.

The image was taken by Norah Moran using a Nikon D850 with an 85mm f/1.4 attached and won second place in the portrait category.
