The US is frightened by the explosion of a meteor that enters Earth over the country

A loud boom sound heard from above stunned many residents across a state in the US in the morning when they were interrupted from enjoying their morning coffee by an unexpected boom.

A report released by The Desert News indicates that there was a loud boom heard across Utah around 8:32 am local time, although quick seismograph reports indicated there was no corresponding earthquake to be found.

As a result of a weather update issued by the National Weather Service Salt Lake City, it was revealed that there were two flashes of red visible in the sky in the morning hours.

As officials received footage of the meteorite streaking across the morning sky and exploding, the debate was quickly put to rest.

As of right now, there have been no reports to indicate that any of these fragments have been recovered. However, it has been reported by a NASA volunteer on KSLTV radio that there is a possibility it could happen

A meteor shower known as the Perseid occurs each year between July and August as Earth passes through debris left behind by comet 109P/Swift-Turtle as it enters a debris field.

As per the American Meteor Society, the Perseid meteor shower peaked on August 11 and 12, and while most debris is relatively small in size, it enters the atmosphere at astonishing speeds, reaching speeds of up to 133,200 mph.

The loud boom sound heard by hundreds, perhaps thousands of residents across Utah was caused by the meteorite breaking the sound barrier and then exploding after being superheated by friction in Earth's atmosphere.

The astronomers are also proposing a plan to fish out a meteorite from another star system, and have already published a paper on the preprint ArXiv server demonstrating their belief that a meteorite is an interstellar object and the science it can provide.

The astronomers proposed an expedition that would involve a large magnet that is about the size of a king bed. It is estimated that the project will cost around $1.6 million.
