There are five telescopes in the world that are the most expensive

Astronomy would not be the same without the telescope. As a result of telescopes, we know more about the universe, and some popular beliefs have been changed as a result.

The moon's craters and mountains can easily be viewed through telescopes. NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, one of the most powerful telescopes ever built, has revealed billions of galaxies like our own, all of which have numerous stars.

You might be interested in purchasing a telescope if you want to see what outer space is made of. Beginners may choose a 4-inch (100mm) reflector, which is cheaper but less powerful. Astronomical objects such as the moon and the evening planets can be viewed closely through the telescope.

Thirty Meter Telescope – $1.4 Billion

Thirty-Meter Telescope (TMT) development in Hawaii was unpopular with the natives. Mauna Kea, Hawaii's tallest mountain, is still under construction with a telescope estimated to cost $1.4 billion.

Atacama Large Millimeter Array – $1.4 Billion

In the northern Chilean Atacama Desert, this powerful telescope provides insight into how stars are formed and how planets are formed.

On 3rd October 2011, the first images were released to the press after the telescope became operational. This telescope uses some high-precision antennae that can be moved across the desert to provide a powerful variable zoom.

The Atacama Large Millimeter Array is the most expensive ground-based telescope, costing $1.4 billion. Due to its functionality and design, it's easy to understand why this telescope is so expensive, and there's no doubt that it does things that most other telescopes can't.

European Extremely Large Telescope – $1.6 Billion

I was astonished when I saw images of the construction site for this massive telescope. Once completed, the European Extremely Large Telescope will be the largest in history.

A 39-meter-diameter main mirror on this ultra-advanced telescope will provide us with insights into extra-terrestrial life in about 10 years.

Hubble Space Telescope – $2.5 Billion

The Hubble Space Telescope comes in second on our list of the five most expensive telescopes ever. Earth-based telescopes are considerably cheaper than space telescopes.

In 1990, the Hubble Space Telescope was launched into earth's low orbit and named after astronomer Edwin Hubble. NASA began building the telescope in the 1970s.

measuring the distances to Cepheid variable stars more accurately, this telescope has discovered the age and expansion of the universe. Other discoveries made by the telescope included black holes and impact sites from Jupiter's collision with Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9.

James Webb Telescope – $9.7 Billion

We conclude our list of the most expensive telescopes in the world with the James Webb Telescope, the most powerful and most expensive telescope in history. A launch date of 2007 was initially planned for the telescope, which began development in 1996.

A total of $9.7 billion was spent on its construction in 2016. Light from some of the farthest galaxies formed after the Big Bang can be detected by the telescope. Due to technological developments, the telescope's cost escalated to record levels from its initial estimate of $1 billion.

Political pressure to keep the costs low almost doomed the project due to its high costs. Its main mission is to study galaxy formation and evolution, star formation, and the origin of life. With time, the James Webb Telescope will continue to make mind-blowing discoveries.
