The sixth Falcon rocket lifted off from Vandenberg Space Force Base on Friday, launching yet another batch of Starlink satellites into orbit and setting an all-time launch record.
Space Exploration Technologies built the two-stage rocket and took off at 10:39 a.m. South Base's Space Launch Complex-4 was engulfed in a stubborn marine layer.
Due to a launch abort that occurred in the last few seconds of the countdown before Thursday morning's launch attempt, liftoff occurred a day later than planned.
In addition to 46 Starlink satellites, SpaceX is building a constellation of small spacecraft to provide internet access to millions of people around the world.
Approximately one hour after the rocket was launched, the satellites were successfully deployed by the rocket.
As soon as the used first-stage booster landed in the Pacific Ocean, entitled 'Of Course I Still Love You,' the drone ship landed the used booster again eight minutes later.
During the first liftoff delay, an off-nominal reading from one of the Merlin engines caused the rocket to automatically hold. A SpaceX representative said the team resolved the issue and Friday's launch is now possible.
The Falcon rocket that was launched from Vandenberg Space Force Base on Friday rose above the clouds along the coast.
Counting both Vandenberg and Florida missions, this was SpaceX's 32nd launch of 2022. With more than 2,000 satellites in orbit so far, this was also the 53rd Starlink mission.
'SpaceX now offers Starlink service in 36 countries, including Luxembourg, Saint Martin, and St. Barthelemy,' the company said.
A Falcon 9 rocket launched 46 Starlink satellites from Vandenberg on July 10 as part of another Falcon 9 launch.
As part of SpaceX's plans, it is also the second of four scheduled liftoffs in the month ahead, with another scheduled for approximately two weeks from now.
