Firmware updates are available for Microsoft Surface Duo and Duo 2 as of August

It is now possible to display the latest Android security patch on foldable smartphones. Microsoft has released the latest firmware update for its Android-based dual-screen mobile devices, Surface Duo and Duo 2.

The August 2022 update brings the latest Android security fixes as well as improvements to device stability. The Surface Duo 2 will receive a firmware update that improves the quality of video calls, despite the fact that there are no brand-new features included in the update.

There are several stages involved in a firmware update, so not all Surface Duo and Duo 2 devices will receive it simultaneously. In the future, all Microsoft Surface devices will receive the August 2022 update. It is required for users to connect to a Wi-Fi network in order to install the update. Select Settings on Surface Duo's home screen, then System, then System Update.

Then click the Restart now option under Check for updates.  "Software updates cannot be uninstalled or reverted to an earlier version as they progress across Surface devices over time." As you install the latest update, you'll also receive all previous updates, if you don't already have them. Only Surface Duo updates will be downloaded and installed."
