Latin American entrepreneurs and investors are feeling cautious optimism amid uncertain global conditions. The investment team at Atlantico chronicles a decade-long boom in technology value creation in Latin America in the Latin America Digital Transformation Report for this year. As Latin America reached its peak in venture funding in 2021, a nearly fourfold increase from the previous year, it broke through to the global stage with record venture funding of $16 billion. The region still counts on higher investment volumes than before 2021, despite a halving of funding this year.

The pandemic effects

Over 650 million people throughout Latin America have seen the birth of Latin America's first unicorn in the past five years. It is still uncertain how locals should play their hand after the dust settles from the market turbulence: If local players ignore austerity calls, they could squander the gains from these golden years; however, if they do not capitalize on the region's special post-pandemic position, they could lose out on a lot of money.
